I know that I am a complete idiot when it comes to firewalls and security, but I cannot find the answer to a simple question anywhere.

I need to open port 41952 through Norton Internet Security so that I can use Tversity as a media streamer to my PS3/Television setup. I have "allowed" Tversity and the Media Server in the Program Control section of NIS 2011, but the PS3 still won't see TVersity until I disable the firewall completely. After spending some time with search engines, many people recommend opening port 41952, but I can not find any directions on how to do this that make any kind of sense. The closest thing I have found is:

http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web...ic_web&docurl=20100422105240EN&entsrc=VirtuOZ

But nowhere is a port being opened here and there are a ton of settings that i just don't get when I click through the options.

Is there a better guide for dummies out there?

Take a look at the general troubleshooting section here:
http://tversity.com/support/faq/

Maybe that will answer your question.

Also, make sure that both the Norton firewall and Windows firewall have the program listed as an exception. If both allow the program to communicate, then the port(s) the program uses should be automatically opened.

I have had issues before (particularly with games) where allowing a program through a firewall did not work, but disabling the firewall did. Unfortunately, the only way to fix this issue was to temporarily disable the firewall while playing the game...
