And find a lot of relatives willing to work for you, because your employees will steal money hand over fist.

I think location is really important. Do you have a place in mind that would be great for a club? Perhaps you would have to look into zoning laws for that. Sounds like a good idea if you stick with it. :)

That's the truest statement you'll find in this thread. Unless you are willing to be at your club for open and close everyday, you'll need a really, really trustworth General Manager(s). They will be responsible for counting/accounting for the money, bagging it and making the deposit to the bank.

An ex-girlfriend of mine was the manager of a huge, very successfull nightclub (dance, not a girly-club) here in my town. One of those 5-clubs-in-one type places. At the end of a busy night, they'd have about $20,000 in cash sitting there. That's a lot of money.

She had to keep an eye on the 5 bars and 10 beer tubs in the club. She'd catch people left and right, making a drink and then putting the money in their pockets instead of the drawer. It's a very hard business to be in. Very easy to lose your shirt.

Good luck! :)

How much do liquor licenses cost? I could find nothing on google as far as prices..

Also, what else do you need other than a business license?

depends on the town and if that towns liscence limit has already been met. In the college town I live in, they are actually over the limit of allowed liscenses as allowed by law, so any new business coming in that wants a permit has to buy one from an already existing business. Here, it will cost you about $80,000 plus the wait time of finding a business that doesnt want their liscense anymore.

edit: im talkinga about liquer permits

You and me need to talk. I've been toying with the idea of opening a bar/club myself. In Dallas a liquor license is $3250 for the first year, $2800 for the second year, and gets cheaper the following years.
I know you wll need a Liquor License, a beer license, a business license, a food license(if you plan on serving any types of food), and billiards license if you have pol or darts.

I figure it would take about $125K to start in dallas for just a bar and probaby $200K for a night club with a DJ and sound equip and lights.
