How to network two computers with two modems ?

Here is the situation: I have two computers and one internet connection. This is temporary so I don't want to buy any additional equipment. Both computers have NICs and 56k modems. How do I create a network between the computers so I can share the cable internet connection.

Thanks for any help.

Uh 1 computer is going to need 2 nics. Unless of course u want to dial in to each other, in which case you need to tie up 2 phone lines, have horrible speeds, and many problems.

actually i have a cable internet connection and am not currently using the modems for anything so i figured there must be a way to connect two modems to make a network

OH..

No you cant do that. Well it may be technically possible but practically no. You would be running one of them as a dial up server and use a phone line to dial the other to it.

Buy another $10 NIC and put it in one of the systems, then use Internet Connections Sharing.

Simple cheap solution.
