How to network Mandrake 8.0/2 win2k machines with a hub?

Ok I have been searching around here in the forums and some of the linux*.org sites but I have not been able to find anything that would help me.

Hell, I am not even sure if my NIC is installed correctly, anyone have any good links for me, or some info?

actually i got it, i didnt want to use samba since i didnt want to set up a file server in the linux box just an http/ftp server.

What he's asking is, what is the purpose of "networking" the computers together? What do you want them to share?

We just need a little more info on what you want the network to do before we can tell you how to set it up.

If yo want to set up apache as a webserver either for the net or you rhome netork, it can be hard, I've never done it. best bet pick up some books and start hacking away at it.

where does rc5 fit in the picture?

well, i did it already here is my set up.


one win2k machine sharing my internet connection (56k :--( )
another win2k
a linux box
a hub


the first machine is the gateway and i set up the linux box to also use the internet connection that computer uses, along with that I set it up to run the apache server with the perl and asp mods and an ftp server so i can upload files. btw i just nuked the linux box so i could put a bigger hd in it, i hope i remember what i did.


Anyone know how to run vnc in it? or how to remotely control the machine without having to log into it?
