How to network 2 comps ?

Hey there, my friend has 2 comps, each with a NIC, and wants to know how he should go about networking them for some local gaming ? They dont both need to be able to access the outside world so far as i know. If you could post a step-by-step guide (or links to) that would be cool as i am not very knowledgeable concerning networks, but his english isnt great so thats why im the one doing the asking.

If theres any specific info you need to know just ask and ill get it for ya.

Thanks for any advice.

Just finished a project here at home that is almost the same as your friend's needs only I was after the sharing of the internet connection. Here is a list of sites with good info that you can filter out:

http://www.firingsquad.com (3 guides to choose from)
http://www.duxcw.com
http://www.practicallynetworked.com
http://www.ctnews3d.com
http://www.pcnineoneone.com
http://www.dalantech.com

The last site mentioned was the one I used the most because their forum had tons of good advice for almost every scenario. All you need to do is find a thread similar to your friends and read away. Don't worry about jumping in at any time cause their staff is beyond reproach -top gun.

Hope this will give you some help,

Polock

PS: Take a little, give a little. I'm not one to give guidance because I'm a rookie, but I felt compelled after getting so much help at DaLanTech. Most people there will go between here and there cause their meaning to life is networking. 😎
