How to network 2 comps in Win XP?

Hey all.

I had no problem mapping my roommates HDD in Win2k so we could send files back and forth, but for some reason I'm unable to do so now that we're both running Windows XP. I've put us both in the same workgroup and everything, and have tried roughly the same thing I was doing in W2k, but it doesn't seem to work. I know it must be simple, but I can't figure it out. Can someone tell me the simpliest way to do this in Win XP? Thanks!!

Its called ICS (internet connection sharing). This would be the easiest way of doing what you want to do. Xp does have this and I have used it before to do exactly what you are doing. Unless you want to set it up manually ICS is the way to go. Good luck. Oh and be sure to check out http://www.practicallynetworked.com if you have questions. There you can find the answer to ANY question about networking. Not that AnAndTech isn't a good place to turn but practicallynetworked is well, all about networking and nothing else. Again, good luck (not that you will need it, this stuff is easy). Later.

ICS and file sharing are two separate functions. ICS is not what he wants. Nowhere in his question did sharing an internet connection appear.
