C:has XP MCE installed and i had been using this for ~1 year
F: has XP pro installed fresh.

is there anything i can do to have xp pro look and feel like xp MCE (except the media center stuff) such as firefox settings, trillian, etc.

i am trying to have xp pro to have all the programs w/o reinstalling them, even though most of them may sit on other drives, which is okay. i can leave the physical disks in the system.

i did try to export HKCU from registry of MCE and import it to PRO's registry, while it did do some things, but it returned an error and did not do everything i wanted. i am afraid to further modification of registry w/o guidance.

It depends on the program involved. You will find that it is possible to operate some programs from the new OS without reinstalling them...others not. However, it would be far better to install them again, without any ties between the systems. I would leave the registry alone.
