Yes they will hold SCSI drives just fine. My PC70 is home to three Seagate SCSI drives (two which are 15,000 RPM) they are running quite cool. The dual 80mm Adda fans (running on "3" which is the lowest speed) help cool the beasts down considerably.

Cheers!

hey shark..thanks!

are the drives loud? i am thinking about building a MONSTER system and scsi came to mind. but if it turns out to be too loud or too much maintenance, i will stick with ide.

Considerably louder than any IDE drive I've used. The typical high pitched whine of the idle noise is completely absent. There is a hum from both drives that sounds like a quiet 120mm fan running on 7 volts--not very bothersome at all. Seeks, on the other hand, are a completely different story! Sometimes when working both drives (swap file is on the second x15 36LP--and even with 2048MB I hit the paging file!) the clicking back and forth sounds like a turn signal on an old car! People can hear it on the phone. Defragging the drive will occasionally make a loud buzzing noise that sounds like a phalanx anti aircraft device in miniature. (Imagine a nitrous oxide powered .177 caliber automatic weapon with a 3000 round per minute firing rate!)

The "Martians" have taken Ninja lessons this time around, it takes a special listening technique to know they're at work! :D

Cheers!

like most of us here, i am an electronics freak. i want the cream o' da crop.

i figured, got a new case that has all the oohs and ahhs so why not go all the way.

i am just a typical home user....games, burning cd's, music, play dvd's, rip music.....stuff like that.

so what do you think? scsi or not to scsi?

depends if you've got money. With what you do i see no reason to....how bout just Raid-0 2 7200rpm IDE drives...probably more than you need and a lot cheaper/easier

Just get IDE RAID with some decent drives. 60GXP's or the new ATA133 Maxtor's with the fluid bearings. There's another that's a bit cheaper and louder. SCSI is a waste of your money.
