How does someone mount an ISO in W8? Do I need aftermarket softwares to do that?

On Linux you just click on the ISO file...

Right click and choose 'mount'. It is built into the OS. It doesn't support every format under the sun though

Does Windows 8 also make ISOs? If not what's a good program to make ISOs? Like for Games?

Would be so nice to not have to pop in the CD for games that complain. I can't believe games still do this. Maybe I'm spoiled with Steam, GOG, Origin and such.

Any other formats better than ISO? I know ISO is the most common?

No, you're totally spoiled by Steam and GOG, but it's a good thing, it's how things should be here in 2013.

Anyway, to make the ISO... I used Alcohol 120 back in the day, but I think that CDBurnerXP will do it too, and is free. I am pretty sure that it isn't built into Windows.

ISO is the most widely accepted. Other formats may offer some advantages, but for cross-platform compatibility, use ISO.

Imgburn is free & awesome:

Pismo File Mount lets you do the right-click, mount-as-folder trick on older Windows operating systems:

If you want to mount an ISO as a virtual drive (not a folder), Daemon Tools Lite is free:

Would I have to worry about any disc DRM (Which is lame considering that most discs need a key anyways.) when ripping it as an ISO with like Imgburn?

I would love to archive all my discs (most are older games) so I don't have to pop them in. So old school. :p

I have two PCs so any network sharing would be a plus too. :D

I've only ever had an issue with a single game disc - an ancient jeopardy game that my MIL likes to play. And I think the new version of Autocad likes to be mounted as a virtual CD, not a right-click mount-folder. If you run into issues, there's always Gamejackal from Slysoft:

But you should be good with ImgBurn + DaemonTools/Pismo or Win8 ISO mount.

Power ISO, while not free, is worth the $$, IMO. You get so many options and ease of use once it integrates into the OS that I can't imagine being without now.
