How to mod Playstation2 controller to USB?

lung

Senior member
Can a Playstation2 controller be modded so that it uses a USB connection? If so, where would I find the schematics/pin out for the connection? Thanks.

Because that would cost money. It's not that I don't have money to order an adapter, but why spend money on something that I can probably grab the parts for from where I work and do it myself? DIY is the way to go.

Seems like the time and cost of parts would outweight just buying a converter that will work perfectly.

Well, the parts are free as we have them lying around work and no one is going to be too concerned about 5 diodes going home with me. Time? It should take a grand total of about 30 minutes to do. So, I end up soending 0 dollars and 30 minutes of my time, as well as doing something I like doing (soldering and building stuff) so it really doesn't put me out. If I was to order an adapter, there goes probably close to $20 after shipping and whatnot, and a few days spent waiting for it. I prefer to go the DIY route, it will work perfectly just like the adapter and I will have it tonight.
