How to mirror Hd's In Windows Xp?

I have two hd's that are the same spec that are not on a raid controller. How do I mirror them in WindowsXp home. Any help is appreciated.

go to adminstrative tools in the control panel
computer managment

choose disk managment you should be able to select the two drives and run raid 1. just be sure they are on seperate ide channels

You have to convert the discs to dynamic discs first. Then create a volume on one of the drives and it will walk you through a wizard that is pretty self explanatory.

You can't do it in XP Home - it doesn't support Dynamic Discs. You need XP Pro to do that.

Thanks, I'll have to tell y buddy to get a raid version of his board then. He doesn't have Xp Pro and he wants to use his legit copy of Xp Home. Hi to you too Adul.

You won't be able to RAID the system drive with any version of XP, better to just get hardware RAID.

You can mirror the system drive which is was the initial poster was asking. RAID 1 is the only RAID level you can use the system drive for though.
