OK, so I jumped in w/ both feet. Ditched both V325's (old-school bitpim "hacked") that we had and hooked the wife & me up w/ a couple Env3's.

Now, we're around computers pretty much 24/7 between home/work so I wanna keep cell service as cheap as possible.

Since our old v325's were hacked, I never had to so much as d/l a ringtone.

And now, since I signed up for NO DATA PLAN what should I try to avoid or avoid doing to make sure I don't use ANY data or at least MEGA-MINIMAL data? (mobile web, e-mail, ringtones, anything else?)

TIA! :)

You pretty much covered it. Don't surf the web or email or send pics... You could always go in and edit your wap settings to make sure that you'll never connect.

What types of things do you like to do on your phone?

it's not hard to not use data. When I had dumb phones, I didn't use data. I did sign up for Mobile Web which wasn't an expensive fee, so if you still want web browsing, it's not too costly.

But like Rudeguy said, which was reiterating what you said... don't use data. There aren't secret little data access features that all of a sudden slam you with data and you didn't know you used data, as long as you don't accidentally forget about the lack of a data plan and go about using data.

For ringtones, all you need is a music application like WavePad, take any MP3 you want and cut it into a small ringtone, like a 30 second clip or something. Then put it on your memory card. You'll just need to look online a bit to make sure there isn't any fancy tricks you need to do, but I never hacked my old basic cell phones and never had a problem putting my own ringtone on the phone.

my daughter has the env3, i blocked the html access for her phone. no data allowed. as for ringtones, there are plenty of free sites that you can send them directly to your phone from. you can also email them from your computer to phonenumber@vzwpix.com as long as they are under 500kb i think.
