How to measure temperatures and noise?

I 'think' the loudest parts left in my case are the stock Intel cooler and my 9700 Pro fan, but I'd like to be able to measure the noise they're making, and at the same time I'd like to be able to measure some temperatures. What tools should I be looking into getting to measure noise and heat? As this is purely a novelty for me, price is very relevant and while I'd like to make accurate measurements I don't want to spend a fortune... recommendations on what to pick up Radio Shack (or somewhere else)?
