How to Measure IDE performance?

I posted last week about the best setup for my IDE devices (HD, DVD, CD-RW). Now I'm wondering how to best benchmark the performance of the entire system. Is there a good program that will test the whole kaboodle?

Yeah Sandra 2001 can measure eide performance. It compares a drive to other drives it has stored benchmarks for. I don't know if you can compare your drives to each other, but you can write down numbers! If you use the program do pay attention to the warnings. If it tells you to not move the mouse. don't move the mouse! There are probaly better programs out there, but this one works ok enough.

Sandra is the worst HD benchmark out there. For a quick and dirty benchmark, pick up HDTach. Others to look at are ATTO and winbench. There's also IOMeter, but I wouldn't recommend that one unless you have time to kill.
