Hello all

I recently made a clean Vista Premium 32 bit install on a laptop (Acer Aspire 7720g) that had died on me.

All drivers installed fine. Windows updates are underway.

Only one problem remains: The system does not recognize the video card.

Its an Ati Mobility 2600HD.

I have tried to install the drivers normally but it does not work.

The device manager does not recognize the card.

what can I do?

thx in advance

I don't know what "does not recognize the video card" means. It has an exclamation point in Device Manager? Doesn't show up at all? Has the wrong device name?

My bad I should have specified!

It doesn't show up at all...

I've downloaded drivers for ati cards from the acer driver support site... but there are two versions... I'll try to install and reboot..

I worked on someone's thinkpad, Lenovo 400 something. Anyways, it has switchable graphics, Intel onboard and ATI discrete. With the default install of Vista, both showed up as "Standard VGA". Installed the newest Intel driver from the Intel site, and then I could get the default/native res to show up. Then installed the ATI driver from Lenovo's site, and the hardware completely disappeared from Device Manager altogether.
