Are there some options for this in setiQ? I know SQ can at least only try and connect between certain times so if there are a couple of hours where you're certain there's a connection you can use that if nothing else.

That's what I do, SetiQ connects each morning at 7.00a.m. when everyone is still in bed.....

i figure maybe i can just have setispy keep restarting it ever 5 minutes and it will catch when the modem is on. setidriver doesn't try often enough.

SETI Q running as service set to connect between 12:01 am to 11:59 pm and seti client set to connect to this Q is probably the best solution. If the machine is a dual cpu, it's probably best to use SETI driver to run the 2 clients. It also gives you the option to set the priority of the clients.

ElFenix, Can't you just turn off the sound on the modem? Or, with SetiQueue you can have it dialup just once each day at a time when it is not going to be a problem.

I have a link to a program like that, that someone wrote. I'm not sure how well it works, etc. I dunno if the link is on my page or in the help thread or not. If it isn't, I should have the link at home.

This has caused a problem for me as well. I have mini-team members who have 56K ISP accounts. I have them all setup using SetiDriver. If you check the AUTO TRANSMIT option and they have their browser setup to automatically connect when they open a web link.............their computer logs on or at least attempts to logon depending if their password is auto-enabled or not.

Some people with 56K connections don't want their computer logging on automatically because they only have one telephone line. Yet these same folks don't want to have to mess with SETI. They don't remember to hit the TRANSMIT button when they see the YELLOW icon. :(

What's needed is what ElFenix has started this thread about....some way for the CLI or SetiDriver or whatever to start transmitting whenever it senses an internet connection, yet not start an internet connection on its own.

Monitoring thread. ;)

Somebody on the forums a while ago (not a regular member) posted this program that they wrote to launch SETI Driver when a dial-up connection is present. I think you run SETI Driver like normal with auto-transmit off. Then keep this program running all the time too (out of the SETI Driver folder). When it senses a dial-up connection it should start a second instance of SETI Driver and have it connect and fetch/flush. I haven't tried it so I dunno how well it works. Use with caution. :)

I couldn't get SetiLaunch to Work. I selected every "delay option" available but never got the SAVE button to change from the grayed out look. I'm running Win2000, I wonder if it might work in Win9X/Me?

I dunno. I think the guy that wrote it's forum name is Didao or something like that if you want to try to find him.
