I need an outdoor movie screen for this weekend, but I don't want to rent one or spend much money buying/making one. I'm thinking about a sheet stretched over a rope or something like that. has anyone tried this and had any luck?

Bedsheet with clothespins on the rope and tied down at the lower corners.

Given the OP that created this thread, I am disappointed.

1) Lack of story

2) Lack of demonstrated ingenuity :p

Here's my best idea so far...

I have a free standing porch swing that has an A-frame type support structure. I'm thinking about first stretching/duct taping a dark sheet onto one side of the structure, then stretching/duct taping a white sheet over the dark sheet. The dark sheet should help keep light from going through, and hopefully make the picture better

come to think of it, I think we once had some silvery satin sheets... those might be just the thing

How big? Use some sheets of plywood painted white. The more sheets of plywood...the bigger the screen.

It doesn't have to be huge... naturally the bigger the better, but I think the sheet on the swing a-frame idea is what I'll try first

4x8 sheet of luan (1/4" or less) is like $7 and it weighs next to nothing. A quart of primer is a couple bucks. Paint. Hang however appropriate, enjoy.

I'd suggest 4 x 4x8 sheets of plywood and make a screen that's 14 feet 3 inches x 8 feet.

Or ... get 5 sheets of plywood and make it 16x9 :)
