This is the closest thing I can think of:
Power Options -> Advanced Tab
Check the box for Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby
Set the dropdown box "When I close the lid of my portable computer" to Stand by

It doesn't take that long to hit the windows key and L button to lock it before you shut the lid.

I really don't know what would be gained by "locking?" Just open the lid and you are 100% back in business. Why lock if no one can touch the keyboard while the lid is closed?

How about if you set the screen saver to come on after 1 minute and click the "On resume, password protect" button on the screen saver tab?
Because I know theres a lazier way to do itOriginally posted by: Tiamat
Why not just ctrl+alt+del then press enter, then close lid.
I've gotten so used to doing this, i dont even think about it anymore.

Someone could come by, open the lid, and do whatever they wanted since I'd be logged in at that point. The locking is for security and peace of mind.
That's an easy fix - lock up the laptop in a drawer or cabinet or take it with you.
