How to make my arms more muscular?

I'm mostly a runner and I think my calves are pretty well developed but up there is pretty skinny/scrawny and I look unproportional. My arms are pretty tiny (girth wise) especially around the wrists. What's the best way to enlarge the size of my arms? Weight lifting? Recommend the best weights for a person of my size? I'm 5'10 and 135 pounds 🙁

And steroids/stimulants etc are out of the question.

wow your a light weight..

work out your upperbody... chest/shoulders/bi/tri 😛 all with weight lifiting.

oh theres some fitness fourm.. geekfitness.com or something. pretty sure someone on atot runs it

I think I do eat a lot. A typical meal for me would probably be 3 burgers + a baked potato or half a chicken + vegetables. No i don't have an eating disorder, probably a high metabolism or something.

Thanks for the replies!

Push ups before you go to bed every night. Do as many as you can do, and when you think you can't do anymore, do 5 more.

Also, go to a gym and get a regular work-out schedule. I work out 3 times a week to tone my muscles, as I do not wish to get 40" biceps. I am 9% body fat and 175lbs @ 5'8". I only spend ~ 20-30 minutes each day at the gym.

this is absolutely terrible advice, do not listen to it!

You don't need to really do pushups everyday, but should go the gym twice a week for half an hour. Do all the upper body stuff. Repetitions rather then weight works best. Be consistent. Thats it. How old are you anyways?

lift!

Heavy metal is your friend🙂

btw, with a runner's build you'll probably get more defined and ripped than you will bulky but defined looks good too not everybody is gifted genetically to gain big mass.

How about buying a set of dumbbells for a start? I was thinking of buying some 25 lb ones. I haven't the time or money to go to the gym right now 🙁

i feel ya man. im 5'10 and about 140. stupid asian metabolism... its tough to build muscle on a frame like this too, just cause theres nothing to build on. bah. the body type limits how much bulk you can put on... however, its easy to make youre arms look toned cause theres no fat to hide the muscle 😀

just work out like the rest of the world. bicep curls, triceps, wrist curls, and chest exercises. thats pretty much all i ever do at the gym.

ps theres nothing you can do about small wrists. it sucks doesnt it. 🙁

Yeah it's possible. Just work one arm and switch up every once in a while.

You gotta increase your time though. A 30 second workout isn't gonna give you enough time to work out both arms

got the same problem im 6' and 160lbs, i am a semi jogger, so everything below the belt is very well developed but my arms are twig and girlish

Don't worry about it.

I'm 6' 150lbs. I too have girlie wrists...

I've had people assume I ran XC in college....

Anyone who says 'I run so my legs are well developed' is deluding themselves.

Do you want big arms? Do deadlifts and squats. You can curl/skullcrush all day long but if you don't do the compound mass building exercises you're never going to gain a damn thing.

And if you want information on weight lifting/bodybuilding do NOT ask on ATOT. I've seen as much bad advice regarding that topic as you'll get asking a Best Buy tech about computers. If you're absolutely set on doing net research then I suggest www.bodybuilding.com as a good starting point.

Thanks for the replies 🙂

Would it be worth it to purchase a weight set or would I be better spending my $$ at LA Fitness (not very many gyms close by here)?

@ 135lbs, I doubt you'll be able to use 25lb dumbbells... start at 15-20lbs. Work your way up... there's no one to impress but yourself.

(This is just from my own personal experience)

I'm never as efficient when I workout at home. There's way too many distractions whereas when I'm at the gym I tend to focus a lot better simply because I want to gtf out as soon as possible.
