My Itunes Music Library, Itunes Library, etc. all save to my user\my music folder...which I don't want. Can I set it to save the library files to a different location?

1: Open iTunes
2a: Windows: Ctrl+,
2b: OS X: Cmd+,
3: Hit Advanced
4: Under 'iTunes Media folder location, press change
5: Change it to whatever you like

unfortunately that just changes where it saves media, I want to save the actual library files to a different location

Try this.

Copy the iTunes files to where you want them.
Quit iTunes.
Delete the iTunes files in My Music.
Double click the iTunes library file wherever you put it.

See if it copies them back. It might, I am not sure. Out of curiosity, any particular reason for this?

well whenever I format my disk I ALWAYS forget to backup my itunes library lol. I've had to reset all my playlists and start at 0 playcounts on everything like 7 times

OK, so all my music is on my D : drive, under D :\Music. Itunes is on my C drive...the libraries are under MyMusic\iTunes on my C drive. I move all the xml files and ituneslibrary.itl and all those files to my D drive. I start iTunes. It doesn't even look for the library file, it just comes up with a blank list for my music. So I try importing the playlist from my D : drive....and it makes a copy and puts it back in the MyMusic directory.
