Brings up some good points. Piracy can't be blamed totally...IIRC Oblivion didn't have much copy protection (just a cd-key check) and look how much that sold. Make good games and people will buy (as long as it doesn't cost like $70 per game).

I don't know how he can say Sins has "phenomenal" graphics. Most of the time you stare at 2D icons and even when you are zoomed in, the ships don't look any better than they did in Homeworld (8 years old now?)

Crysis has phenomenal graphics, Sins has "good enough" graphics. As you pointed out, you spend most of your time zoomed out and unable to see the ship graphics, so there is no point to uber graphics. SD/IC have stated that they made a effort to target the widest range of gamers which means it has to be able to play on mid to lower end machines, so top of the line graphics are out of the question.

It is the same in WiC, pretty graphics which if you stop to admire it fully you're going to get your ass handed to you.

Considering the size and scope of the game, the graphics are pretty phenomenal. Especially since everybody said a RT4x game would have sucky graphics.

I like how all the losers like EPIC are bitching because no one wants 4 year old games, whereas new companies are beaming and saying Piracy is not as much as everyone hypes it up to be.

I make the effort to zoom in whenever i can, especially to see Capital ships explode :)
I probably spend at least 1/3 of the time zoomed in to some degree. My mouse wheel gets a serious workout in Sins.

Epic's problem with UT3 had nothing to do with the quality of the game play or the fact that the basic game play is 8 years old. The basic game play of Unreal Tournament has always been awesome and is not a standard everyday throw-away game but an online cyber-bloodsport that people play competitively to this day--just like people still play old games like chess and football. Good game play and live human competition doesn't get old.

UT3's problem was that it was essentially a console port with a horrible Demo, a buggy beta released as the retail version, and a horrific server browser and user interface that was far, far below the UT99 and UT 2004 standards. If UT3 had been released as polished as UT 2004 currently is and with as good of a user interface and server browser we'd all be talking about how big of a hit the game is.

I actually think Sins has very clean, beautiful graphics. And, I can use 4x4SSAA. That says something about the wonderful, efficient coding. I think its graphics are better than Crysis simply because of the coherent, clean presentation and the smooth edges which just make Crysis run like more crap.

QFT! I love watching a fleet of cruisers and caps firing on a target. Sins just rocks.
