Do you know what's in XP Black? Take a look. Then tell us where you go it. :)

Since that's illegal, this isn't the place for that sort of discussion.

Honestly, people....

It's not illegal to make a backup. The RIAA really has people brainwashed! They've got you believing that to own a piece of software you must own both the license AND the media.

You are correct. It's not illegal to make and keep (NOT distribute) a backup copy of software that you have purchased.

The problem is that 99.9999999% (add a few dozen more 9's for accuracy) of the people that would use the XP Black image do not have legal licenses for ANY of the software on the image, never mind having legal licenses for all of the software. Making copies of software that you have not purchased in order to install and use them on your computer is illegal.

As a side point, this particular discussion has nothing to do with the RIAA since the XP Black image is full of pirated software applications, not recorded music.

Just wondering, the statement above alludes to the fact that there is a legit XP Black OS. I always thought it was just a pirated OS.

Sooo, what's the scoop? Is there a legit XP Black?

I wasn't intending to allude to anything. I just wanted to allow for the possibility of one person somewhere in the world that might actually have legal licenses for every application in that package but still be willing to use the pirated (and likely compromised) copies of the programs in the XP Black image instead of their own legitimate copies.. ;)

Obviously the Black Box has a lot of illegal software included, but it's so much better as a stand-alone installation then XP and I like some of the features, plus I only have DVD's so I want a DVD version of XP.
