How to make a XP Pro install disk with all the updates?

i wanna use boot camp, but cannot be faffed with the multitude of updates for XP

is there a way i can make like a consolidated disc with the updates on? i do have a proper legal XP Pro SP1 disc and license, but theyre on SP3 or something now arent they?

SP3 is in late beta/release candidate stage.. I think you can still download that version from Microsoft.

I guess that in about 2 weeks or so SP3 final will be out.

It is a good idea to make a SP3 install image for sure.

The process of integrating stuff like SP3 into an install image of the OS for XP is called slipstreaming. Here's a tutorial that covers SP2; SP3 should be about the same:
http://www.winsupersite.com/sh...sxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

I expect there are other tutorials you could search for... sp3 +slipstream +xp or whatever.

There may also be utility programs that automate the process further for you.
Whether you trust those and find them convenient is up to you.

And of course there may be .....ways to get...... an already made XP+SP3 ISO image from the net, say, by downloading from TechNet/MSDN in a few weeks once SP3 final is released if you have access to that... I'm sure there will be other places / ways....

thanks for that, i will have a go today. i assume this stuff should all work fine thru parallels becasue i dont have any other machine but this mac

It will work fine.

The easiest way, IMHO, is the handholding that NLITE (google it) gives you. It will literally guide you thru the entire process - PLUS you can integrate all your parallels drivers (or any other drivers you want) directly on the install CD! It's wonderful!
