Having basic knowledge of electronics I was curious where I could find information concerning hard drive logic boards (the PCB on the botom side of most hard drives). I've googled, and have found nearly zero information on the subject, and a friend of mine who has been an E.E. for nearly 25 years, knows very little as well (hes a radio staition engineer).
My motivation is simple: After seeing tons of Flash disks hitting the market over the years, Im interrested in making a solid state drive myself, as a project (not using Flash memory). Also I do understand that I will have to have some sort of 'memory addressing translation' working, but am a bit lost when it comes to the other nessisary steps for talking with the actual ATA/SATA controller.
Anyhow, basicly what I DO know is that the logic boards on a regular PATA/SATA drive would have servo controls, head potition controls, so that information, I probably wouldnt need, but any other information anyone could link me to would be greatly apprciated.
