Problem :
I have a Antec Solo , Antec Sonata Plus 550(same design as solo) and Antec NSK-4482B EC. All of them have/had a power button problem (Only usign solo myself), instead of some superglue patchjob or new panel i was thinking of installing a new power button.

So far the plan is :
-drill a hole in a blank 5.25"
http://meep-meep.eu/bay.png
-get one of the following : phobya anti vandal push button
blade contacts version
http://www.aquatuning.de/water-cool...aluminium-schwarz-orange-ring-beleuchtet-5pin
screw contacts version
http://www.aquatuning.de/water-cool...z-weiss-beleuchtet-mit-schraubkontakten?c=628
-simple premade cable to connect stuff up
http://www.aquatuning.de/cables/oth...taster/schalter-verbindungskabel-60cm-schwarz
-heatshrink around the contacts

Very clumpsy and not familiar with handling electronics so some questions :
-Any tips on drilling true the 5.25" plastic bay cover front panel?
-What size to go for , 16mm or 19mm button?
-Push button with screw contact(have to strip the cable/solder ends/insert) or pin contacts like linked?
-Anything I am forgetting?

Or anyone know of a premade 5.25"inch power button front panel? Lian li and scynthe use to sell those but extremly hard to get or expensive.

Regards Ward.

UPDATE :
I decided to make it myself
REQUIREMENTS
-jumper cable(with blade connectors pre-bought)
-button i linked earlier
-scissors
-heatshrink
-drill
-hair dryer /heat

REMARKS
-having a grinder head for your drill make it lot less of a janky affair because of the structure of the blank 5.25 bay
-the cable needs heatshrink over the cable contacts because they will touch each other
-the cable bought from the website only fit on 19mm buttons of the same brand , the 16mm have way smaller blade contacts
-you might need also soldering/crimp tools if you going to make your own cable

COST :
-cable ±3 euro
-button ±14 euro
-heatshrink collection 6euro(was a big pack)
-shipping ±4 euro
-Drill - borrowed

End Result :

UPDATE 10-august-2016

The led stopped working but then I noticed most motherboards only give out 5V on the motherboard pins. Attaching the led to a 12v line made it work again , apparently 5V volt was just enough to make it work but any little dip or wear on the resistor will make it stop working , if you buy a button with a 12V resistor like me they should be hooked up to a 12V line.

That stuff you have should work, just make sure that button is a momentary push and is normally open. So when you push it closes contacts.

Then you just wire it to the pins on the motherboard that normally go to the case button. It's as simple as just shorting them together for a short moment so not much involved.

Just make sure that the button you have can remain in closed position if you hold it. I imagine all momentary push buttons are like that though. Ex: they it does not just click on and off fast. You still need to be able to hold it if the OS stops responding.

Oh and for the LED, you could probably wire it to the "power on" LED pins on the motherboard as well. So the button will light up when PC is active. Polarity matters for LEDs but you won't blow anything if you get it backwards, so try one way, if it does not work try the other.

Finished the button , end result looks quiet nice. I will update the main post with some information if anyone else ever wants to make a one. Thx for the tips/suggestion.
