I'm trying to make Chessmaster 8000 play from my hard drive instead of from the CD. I can't figure out how to redirect it to look at my hard disk for the data rather than the CD drive. If there's a registry key I can't find it. Has anyone done anything like this? Oh, also do I have to make an ISO of the disk or can I just move all the files to a folder somewhere? Thanks.

Since it sounds like you legitimately have the CD, I'll tell you that it seems that what you need is a no-cd crack. I use them as a convenience for games that I actually own.

When using a crack, what has to be copied to the hard-drive differs between games. Within the crack there should be a readme file that tells you what to do. You may not see the readme until you've executed your download.

Provided that you have Chessmaster 8000 v1.0.2, here is one for you. Hope I'm not off-base here and have somehow misunderstood.

When you start talking about ISOs, I don't know what you're talking about.

I type slow, so Trashman beat me. His link is a really good site once you figure out how to get around. Most of my cracks have come from there.

Okay, I thank you for your effort, and I now have the v.1.02 no-cd patch, unfortunately no one has the v.1.02 upgrade anymore. Everyone has v.1.04 now. Grrr...! I'll keep looking. Someone's got to have it. Thanks. Oh, I already tried it and it doesn't work with v.1.04.
