anti static wrist bands are over rated. Never used one and have never had an issue.

Barbed wire wrapped around your neck and connected to your dryer 220 line will do the trick:p

Take two lengths of completely stripped wire. Tie each one around each wrist. Put each one into the left and right holes in your electrical outlet in the wall.

Touch something metal before working on a box.

I have never used one and I have worked on my own boxes for around 10 years. I have never had a problem.

I actually got electrocuted when re-installing a sound card on the MSI KT3 Ultra I'm using now, and it still works fine.

That is why I'm a pretty hardcore MSI fan. Anyways, yea I'm talking really electrocuted. Enough to blow my arm out of the box and knock me over.

Like the person up there said. They're overrated.

Just touch a ground before going in.

I like to use them - not because I've ever fried something by touching it, or known anyone that has did so, but alot of the times you might hurt something and the system will run fine but the component will be weak and fail easy, crash etc. Can't really test for that but it makes me feel better at least :p

I can just see it now.

"Yeah, but I don't understand. I even asked on a forum for advice and did exactly what this one user Amused told me. Now I kind of wish I hadn't followed his advice at all."

touching the case will work IFF the power supply is plugged in. Otherwise, there's still a chance of a static discharge. The case itself needs to be grounded.

Nonetheless, the odds are so slim... I just tap the metal on the case and procede to do whatever it is that I'm doing.

i htink that was the prblem...my POS psu doesnt have a on off switch so if it pluged in there is power to everything. so it wasnt grounded...that could be a problem
