How to lower CPU voltage with ABIT IB9 board

I am using a P4 661 (3.6Ghz) CPU with a ABIT IB9 as a server for downloading and file share. I down clock the CPU to 1.8Ghz to lower power usage, however, I cannot lower CPU voltage. I can only increase. Any idea?

Thanks.

I tried to lower the voltage on my Abit AB9 Pro this morning. The lowest setting in my bios is 1.35v. I'm running E6850. You might try updating to the latest bios to see if it has changed for (45nm) or other low power CPU. Good luck, the last AB9 Pro official bios is from Nov. 2007!!!

It looks like you are in luck. That is if you are using the old Dec. 2007 bios. The IB9 has a 7/29/08 bios that supports the E7200. Good Luck.

Thanks for reply!

Lowest CPU voltage for P4 661 is 1.325V which is default. It won't go lower. I will try the new BIOS and how it would allow me to go lower.

BTW, does IB9 support E8400/8400? If it supports E7200/7200, I don't see a reason why not.

Hey, I've checked around and found out that your CPU does support EIST and C1E. Your CPU will underclock itself if EIST and C1E are enabled in the bios. Also the IB9 does not show official support for the E8000 series CPU. If you have a spare E8000 CPU laying around, you could try it in your board. I would not go and buy an E8000 series for an IB9. It would not surprise me if the IB9 can support all current 45nm CPU's!!!
