i have earthlink cable with 2 routers, one is the primary one that the cable line hooks into & the other is the wireless linksys router. i didnt think to put a password on the network when i set it up but when i noticed that the internet was running slowly, i figured that someone might be piggying off my wirless connection. so i set up a password & it is running faster now. my question is how do i track or log someone who is riding on my connection? is it possible to even do it? thanks

Just log into the router, it will show who is connected.

it's not trackable, it's only gonna show the MAC address of the perpetrator and most likely computer name. so unless you want to knock your neighbor's door and ask to look at their computers. i don't see any way of you knowing.

it might also be some wardriver driving around and found a sweet spot from your router. if that's the case, he'd be long gone by now, and switch to the rest of wireless connections that still open.

add: watch your shared folder in your computer. he might be able to access it when he was connected to your router. make sure you didn't unintentionally give him your passwords or anything like that, or simply just change them all.

i figured as much...thanks guys

i have another question about torrents...sometimes when i run about 5 or 6 at once, the taskbar or start bar disappears & any then reappears. any torrents that were minimized to the tray disappear & never come back, but when i look at the task manager for running processes, it shows that the torrents are running still. is there anyway to have them reappear without having to shutdown/logoff my computer? thanks again

Sounds like Explorer is crashing when you run that many torrents at once. When Explorer crashes, Windows automatically re-executes it by default, which is why you see the taskbar (and likely all your desktop icons & any open Explorer or IE windows) disappear, and then the taskbar & desktop reappear.

Often, when Explorer restarts itself like this, some tray icons don't reappear even though the associated programs are still running. The only way to put the icons back is to restart those individual programs, or take the "brute force" approach and reboot Windows.
