How to lock 'sort by' options?

i want some options to always stay in the list, such as date modified, type etc.

thing is, in some folders - like those that have audio and video - vista, much like XP but worse, keeps on removing those and adding crappy things like author, rating etc. i change them back but it then eventually reverts back again to vistas preferences.

any way to lock these in there?

I haven't used Vista, but is there something similar to XP? -- Tools > Folder Options > View tab > Remember each folder's view settings

It's checked by default in XP.

forgot to say i checked that option but it doesnt seem to make a diff 🙁
