the only way is to buy a $500 beater and drive it til it dies.. then afterwards, chances are that you will trade your car in for a manual transmission car, then about 6 months later you will say fvck now i know how to drive it, and my auto was much easier.. so you'll sell it for a loss and buy an automatic again.. its the only way, you can keep denying it as long as you want, but you know there is no other way.

I drove mine off the dealership parking lot when I bought it. I just asked the salesman how to drive one,and had him drive me around the block while I watched what he did, then played monkey see monkey do. It was a bit scary on the way home, so when I got home I got online and read about how a manual transmission works and went out and practiced more until I stopped crapping in my pants.

I tried when I was in France. I'm not sure if it was the car, but I couldn't get it going after 4 or 5 tries. I kept stalling the engine. I'm thinking of buying a cheap beater car to learn. Great thread.

The first time I ever drove a stick was this winter in my uncle's Z06 ('02). He was nervous as hell :D
