I received my new C1 160gb X-25M G2 today.. Some kind person emailed me the firmware.. I updated it, it said it worked.. What are the symptoms if the update failed? I don't plan on actually installing Win 7 for another day or so.. If the update had failed would it say failed after updating or do I need to actually try installing Windows 7 to see if its borked?
 
Google up a program called Crystal Disk Info.

A small, unobtrusive program which tells you detailed information about Hard Drives (including Solid State) and provides Firmware versions.

If you can still see the drive on your BIOS bootup process.
 
From what I am seeing, failure typically = brick. If the update program says it updated and the drive still works, you should be fine.
