How to keep status bar on IE6

I like having the status bar on my explorer window, but everything I open it, i have to re-check it. Is there a setting I can use to have it there by default? If so where is it? Thanks in advance

I *think* you can do it by popping open a regular directory window (i.e. your C: drive)
after that make sure status bar is checked
then at the top of that window pick "tools" then "folder options" then the "view" tab
and finally click "apply to all folders"

At least I think that's how I did it once

it works!! sweet.. I swear.. I think MS removed the status bar cause' they want us to be as uninformed as possible.
