How To Keep Nvidia Driver Installer From Moving Around My Desktop Icons?

Hey all; would any of the Vista users know how to keep Nvidia's driver installer from messing up my desktop. As part of the installation procedure it always switches over to 640x480 for a moment, making a mess of my desktop. I'm getting rather tired of this and want to install the 169.04 drivers, but I'd like to get a workaround for this first before I go crazy again.

Not sure if this works in Vista, but I have avoided this problem on XP by logging in on the Administrator account to perform the installation. Then after the resolution is set back to normal, log back in on the normal account. Since the desktop on the normal account was not loaded when the resolution was smaller, the icons don't get rearranged.

Perfect Solution.

There are programs such as Powerstrip that remember your desktop icon locations... it's the only solution as far as I know.

Here's a free one: ShellIconRestore on this page: http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/
Well it's not the solution I was hoping for, but I'll take it. Thanks.🙂
