It's going down to 22 F in Austin tonight. You could shave those dogs and they'd be alright.

A light bulb in a dog house would be sufficient if the temps got down to 0 F.

Our dog has some time outside, when we are gone at night or at work.

We move his dog house up on the back patio to offer some protection from the wind, and a bale of hay in front and in his dog house. We came home tonight from the in-laws house, its about 15 degrees outside. The dog was curled up in the hay outside of the dog house, when he came in I felt his coat and he was really warm.

So I figure a little hay to curl up in and some protection from the wind is all most dogs will need.

We used to have a Siberian Husky, when the temp dropped to zero, he would be out laying on the ice-cold concrete, spread eagle like it was the middle of summer, that dog loved the crap out of winter.
