How to keep desktop icons from moving when using RDC

I have a 24" monitor I use at my desk. Sometimes when I am elsewhere in the building I remote in to make some network changes from a computer using a 19" monitor. This always seems to move my icons on my desktop around. Is there anyway to prevent this?

I would download and install the free utility, Icon Restore. I've used it for years, and it works - XP, Vista and 7. It inserts a DLL file that, when you right click on Computer or Network, you get two items in the menu. Save Icon Layout and Restore Icon Layout.

There are many things that disrupt icon positions - safe mode, resolution change, and ypour RDC. The best solution is to save the layout, then if the icons get jumbled, Restore the layout.

I have it on all of my computers. It works well.
