i remember reading that you can join two partitions together in windows xp under disk management. I already searched but i couldnt find the post again. So can someone tell me how to do this?

I know i can just use partition magic but i had a bad experience with partition magic (i lost 40 gigs).

One partition has to be empty I'm pretty sure (although not positive). Both need to be on Dynamic Disks. Be careful, before you convert to dynamic disk, if you ever need to put these in another system that is not 2k/xp the disks will not be able to be read. and you expand the partition. I'll see if I can find a technet article on it that step by steps the process.

rry one more step after that.

Damn I hate the way that some of technets pages are loaded.

Anyway on the tree structure on the left hand side. Click Dynamic volumes

you may want to check technet or groups.google.com for step by step instruction

That's a pretty quick and easy task with Partition Magic 8. That's the way I'd go.

I have also lost data with PM, but it was a very early version (3?) back in the day, and I was pretty damned dumb.

Hope this helps!
