My PC has a files damaged and missing. I already copied the files from the Win98 CD and it since has problems.. Probably some file is corrupted that window is telling me. It just tells me to reinstall windows. When i try using OEM CD it gives me an error saying i already have an OS. What do I have to do beside getting upgrade version of 98 to completed this "fix" I don't want to reinstall all the applications, drivers since forever. So it automatically imports the registry setting from the previous OS

exampe (when you install win98 over win95 it automatically imported all the registry setting,.....etc..

The OEM version does not allow you to replace an OS and keep existing settings. Its packaged for performing only clean, virgin installs. You want to acquire an upgrade version to do this.

Yes, Microsoft's marketing strategies are a pain in the butt. That's why I have an upgrade version and an OEM version around (both legal too... wow...)

backup and then delete your win.com file (or just rename it to win.bak or something) and then you can install with the OEM version, don't know if it'll fix your problems AND keep your settings though.

Just do as Hawk says and everything should go smoothly and all settings should be preserved. I had to rename both Win.com and Winver.exe to get OEM WinME to install over W98SE.
