How to interpret a dump file

My Win2k pro box just rebooted itself after I cleaned my cache on IE5.5 SP2.
According to the EventViewer there's dump file saved at C:\winnt\minidump so I go there and try to open the .dmp file but no application is associated w/ the type and I'm wondering how I can find out what caused the crash / reboot???

Did a search at microsoft.com; an article says I can do it w/ dumpchk utility but cmd doesn't recognize the command.
Any help would be appreciated!!

Not that I'm going to be any help, but I did a google search on the .dmp file and a site said it would be worthless for a user/admin. I just deleted it and cleared up 520 MB of space.

Jump to google and see if you can find something that'll help you open up that .dmp file.
