How to interconnect two offices wirelessly?

-The first office is at the 2nd floor of a building
-The second office is at the ground floor of a building
-The distance between the two offices is about a block
-There is line of sight between the two offices

So far, I've researched the following:
-------------------------------------------
1) Get 2 Linksys or Buffalo routers with WDS capability which will be connected via wireless bridging
2) Get a pair of cantenna -- is there any other alternative to this? Any other recommended brands?

Questions:
------------
1) If there is heavy rains and snow, would this affect the wireless connection between the two offices
2) Is this solution the most reliable method? if not, please give your recommendation

You do not need WDS it should be done with two Access Points (Not a Wireless Router) that are configured to the classical Bridging Mode.

Also, what solution would you recommend to protect the cantenna from lightning?

Given that this is a solution for Business, End-Users Access Points, and Cantina is Not the products that I would use.
