Here's the situation...
I have Linux on my Slave harddrive on my Primary IDE channel. Right now there is no master because it died and I'm waiting for the replacement.
So, I have Linux Mandrake installed on the slave with no LILO. I boot with the boot disk. Mandrake Linux partitions take up half the harddrive.
In the rest of the harddrive I want to install WinXP.
I was planning on creating a Fat32 partition in the remaining space and then installing WinXP in it. Here are my questions:
1. Will WinXP detect the Fat32 partition I create and install there and not over the Linux partitions?
2. Will WinXP create a MBR on the slave harddrive? Where does WinXP put the boot record? If it puts it right at the front will it automatically boot to WinXP eventhough the harddrive is Slave with no master present? If it puts it at the front of the Fat32 partition, I will have to use LILO to boot to it, right? Or, can I use a WinXP bootdisk?
