I cant seem to get windows to detect my raptor when i go to do a clean install, I tried to make boot disk with drivers but it wont accept any of them.
Some info on how to make a boot disk or link on how to do it would be great.
Also any info on how to get windows to install onto my sata hd would be awsome!

I have an Abit IS7 MOBO, Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 HD. The Bios settings should be similar on most MOBO's. If you have an IDE drive connected, disconnect it until you have Windows installed on your SATA drive. This is to keep the IDE drive from stealing the drive letter C: from your SATA. The 3d party drivers only need to be installed if you are setting up RAID (which apparently you're not). Do the following settings in your BIOS:

ONCHIP IDE DEVICE (hit enter)
IDE BUS Master------Enabled
Onchip IDE 1 & 2----Enabled
All the drive settings-Auto

ONCHIP SERIAL ATA
Onchip Serial ATA mode---IDE
SATA Raid ROM-------------Enabled
Onchip Serial ATA----------Enhanced
IDE 3-------------------------IDE 3 Master
IDE 4-------------------------IDE 4 Master

I built this comp on the 26th, and have been searching for the right way to install SATA until yesterday. That's when I found out my drive WAS running in SATA. I had found posts that said the SATA drive would show in Device Manager as SCSI. That's incorrect, it will show under IDE/ATA ATAPI (Primary).

I hope this works for you. Post back if you have problems, and MAYBE I can help.

Something else to add....make sure that the SATA drive is given first priority in boot order...in BIOS.

Are you sure your motherboard supports SATA? Is your HD connected directly to the MOBO or are you using a PCI card? What motherboard do you have? You won't have any settings in the BIOS that are named "SCSI".

Edit: The most important question of all: What OS are you using? I assumed you were using XP.
