How to install New HSF with Termal Paste?

I figure I can get the old HSF off, but then what do I do?

You'll want to clean the cpu off (get rid of old paste). I'd suggest some WD-40 or other similar light penetrating oil to remove the grease, then clean any left over residue off with some rubbing alcohol. Others just say use alcohol but that never works for me alone .

Apply new paste, don't over do it, just a thin layer.

Attach HSF, be nice, don't rock it around or anything...

The artic silver webpage, suggests that one does not use WD-40 to remove thermal paste as it will prevent future aplications of thermal paste from filling the tiny cracks in the heat sink. I went with rubbing alcohol and had no problems.

No WD-40. Use alcohol on the die and dishwasking detergent on the ceramic.
