How to install itouch apps without using itunes store?

I was trying to install the iphone apps on my ipod touch but can't.

Since the itunes store is not available in my country, i guess i'm out of luck.

Any ideas?

No, mine is one of the early launch models and therefore they are not available.

Not sure if this is legal, but i went ahead and jailbroken it. My 1.1.4 firmware didnt have the wiggly icons and the homescreen icons from the browser thing (wierd - but a lot of people had the same issue), therefore i installed a pack called full 1.1.4 capabilities from the repo.ispazio.net source, and the appls were installed automatically.

Hmm.. that's weird. I thought 1.1.4 was supposed to add those apps. I didn't think it was region specific. Very odd. Jailbreaking isn't illegal.. but I think you blur the lines when you unlock them for use on other people's networks.

If your Touch is jailbroken when you send it in for repair, if you ever have to, they might not repair it under the warranty since they don't know if you screwed it up, or if it got screwed up because of a fault part. So it works well enough to use it some, you might want to restore it back to factory settings before you take it in for any kind of warranty work.

those 5 iPhone apps (mail, maps, weather, notepad, stocks) are a $20 upgrade for the iPod Touch as part of the Jan. update. I think they may only be available in countries with the iTunes music store.
