Is that card PnP or not ? Linux should find and auto-configure it when it's PnP-capable. I don't know about Mandrake, but Redhat has utility named "sndconfig" for helping to configure sndcards.
I'm pretty sure that Mandrake has that same utility. Mandrake is actually based on Redhat's core (with some added features, of course).
Like Priit was saying, the card should be detected and configured automatically in most cases, provided that it is PnP. If you have an old one that isn't, just use sndconfig and you should be fine.
The SB16 is the bomb ..
I still have mine.. and its has a IDE connector... Last time i used it I had 1 hd and a cd-rom drive off it, ie 3 ide busses (6 devices) woo hoo ..
Anyway.. I have not tried "sndconfig" yet.. cause my linux box doesn't have a sound card.. OH NOooo... hey its at work ok.. I think I am going to put one on it right now...
