ok, its New Year, and damn we will drink alot, but this year i don't wanna be drunk like the previous ones for a special person who will be at the party.... :)

my papa who once worked in a bar said that eating a whole bunch of Cheese will create a coating along your intestenial organ and stomach so the alochol will take longer to penertrate and fukk you up...

PS: "Don't Drink" is not a option. :)

Eat a lot. Drink lots of water between your drinks. Try the cheese trick. ;)

Moderate, it's cheaper. Nurse your first drink and then have 2 or 3 alcohol free drinks. This way your system will metabolize the alcohol without getting overloaded early in the night.

Don't booze on an empty stomach. Have something like pizza. Somehow dairy works.

cheese works because it is made of milk - DUH!!!

here's my theory (not necessarily true): alcohol is in essence a weak acid, and we all learned about acids and bases didn't we? since cheese is basic, it neuralizes some of the alcohol. tada!!!

eat a lot of carbohydrates the day before and also the day that you're drinking. if possible, drink a glass of water for every drink you have (in between drinks)...you'll be an unstoppable drinking machine if you do all of that :D

Pace yourself!!

Yes I am a pro.

I drink Vodka.

I drink a lot.

I just don't chug, swill or slam my drinks.

And before you go to bed afterwards drink a few large glasses of water. It'll help you shake off the effects better the next morning.

That's the point. While your making your pit stops are the urinal, some of that alcohol is coming out with it :)

water keeps you hydrated too...which is good since booze dehydrates the fsck out of you :)

Hmmm.....well...I knew that, was wondering if there's anyway I can increase the tolerance by drinking day by day. If were to drink a can today and slowly increasing it by ermm..say one a week......do you think I'll get drunk on 3 cans after 2 months??

actually no, don't go to the bathroom that often, my dad said try to keep it the minimum.

from my high school chem teacher (cool guy), he said it is Esther that make ppl drunk, and I derived the following theory.
from the Esterification equation:

Alcohol + Acid <=> Ester + Water

alcohol you drank will be quickly transform into Ester and Water due to the strong acid in your stomach... while Water + Ester can go back to Alcohol and Acid.
somehow I think what you piss out is water only and none of the other 3, (I better not be peeing 2.1 pH Hydrochloric Acid :) ) because the piss always seems so clear... and I cannot scientifically proof it...

so if I am correct that what is removed is water only, then the ester cannot be converted back to Alcohol and Acid to prevent you from "being fvck up" as Tracy Morgan said from SNL's Mash Viquour skit.

ok, so much of my lecture... thx

Become Sottish or Irish.

Being half Scot I have never been truly drunk in my life. But I have tried damn hard.

When you start feeling dizzy, get angry and hit someone.

Whatever you do don't take asprin or tylenol for hangovers. That is a myth that can kill you. It (asprin & other pain killers) will react with the alcohol and do really serious liver damage.

To prevent a hangover drink lots of water and gatorade/powerade. This will increase your electrolytes and re-hydrate you.

As for increasing your tolerance......... drink on a full stomach & pace yourself.

Cheers,
Aquaman

Practice makes perfect! Also take a 100MG vitamin B complex pill before you drink and another one as your drinking water before going to bed, nice way to avoid being hungover.

One of the biggest factors is what you have eaten throughout the day, especially within an hour or two of starting to drink.

You want to have eaten something that takes your body a very long time digest - IE complex foods rich in protein and complex carbohydrates. Steak and potatoes works well. Eat a very healthy meal beforehand and you should be able to booze with the best.

The best way to increase tolerance is to gain weight. The bigger you are, the less each drink affects you.

I don't think alcohol is an acid...as far as I know, it's a very stable substance. There isn't much of a chance that you can coax it into loosing some of the H+.

Although it seems like it, being Irish or Scotch doesn't give you any added abilities (unless you're a Kennedy :) ).

But having something in your gut helps a lot. Breads and starches are the best because they can keep your body from absorbing the alcohol.

BDawg, it's not so much as gaining weight, as it is gaining muscle weight. Having higher muscle mass increases the bodies ability to metabolise both food and drink. The faster your body can metabolise something, the faster it is out of your body.

Also, muscles store a huge amount of water. The reason that "heavier=more alcohol" is because the heavier you are, in theory, the more water you have to spread the alcohol out. It's this reason also that drinking a large amount of water throughout the day helps you handle your alchol better at night.

Increase your muscle mass, and you increase your ability to hold your alcohol.
