Only thing i noticed is the rubbing alcohol, should be 100% isopropyl, rubbing alcohol has impurities in it supposedly (according to my A+ test and study materials, course that was a couple years ago, but, eh), so ive never used anything but isopropyl. Other then that everything looks very good, nice detail and pictures, i just wish all laptops were as easy as yours to work on, 50% of the ones i do everyday have to be torn completely down to even have access to the heatsink and fan, blah.

I use 99.9% Iso. i've never seen 100% iso before

That is great - except that many laptops' CPU can't be accessed from below as you describe. Many are accessed from above, and require removal of the keyboard.

So, let's call it alternative "A." Can someone describe alternative "B," i.e., where the CPU is under the keyboard?

i tried to get a dell also to make it with but was unable to.

theres also the models that you have to take the computer apart all the way pull the board out and turn it over to get to them, Toshiba Satellite A75 is an example, basically same type of thing reviewed in the guide, but theres no access panel.

And i have a bottle of 100% in my tool bag, at least thats what it says on it, but 99.9% is pretty close, lol, maybe they just rounded up.

i mainly like to stick with easy to find products, i have gotten 99% before but the 91 it much easier to come by. as far as any impurities they arent like a layer of sludge or anything, the temp difference from them would be neglidgable

search google for a thing called notebook hardware control (i think it works currently only for centrino laptops). it's a nifty utility that allows you to undervolt your CPU. I would test it using superprime or something before you set your volts in stone. long story short, i dropped voltages by about .2 and it runs stable and (here's the kicker) at 6 degrees cooler @ idle and 8 degrees cooler at load. this is a dell 600m w/ a 2.0ghz dothan. now I'll wait till my warranty is through and slap on the AC

wow, here's the link for the program harware control i have been able to drop the volts .256v and my temps are like 10c better.
very nice program and very easy to use:thumbsup:

The impurity is water, and it's hard to get it to 100% becuase it's very hygroscopic. Even if you get 100% alcohol, as soon as you open it, it will absorb moisture from the air. So I think the 90% or better i good enough. You'll only approach 100% if you use an unopened bottle.

i would really like to be able to control the fan speeds of it which hardware control says it will do in its next release. if anyone knows of a program i can use to do so let me know.

i use an ollllld program that the author doesnt even update anymore (at least I dont think) for my dell 600m. it's called inspiron i8k fan utility and it works for inspirons.
