how to identify which Duron is multiplier locked by its Serial number or others..

as the title said...

meanwhile, as many knew that AMD is gonna make Multiplier OC impossible,
how they gonna do that? they will remove the Pins or something???
Will the new non-OCable cpu look physically different now then since the "pins" are removed...

thx

Ok, if we knew how they did it, we would be able to find a way to get around it. Nobody but Intel knew how their CPUs are locked. Im sure AMD will keep that as a secret as well. What Im thinking is AMD will probably remove those pins, I think I heard from AMDzone that they will also remove the bridges that can be used to overclock. All they really had to do is follow what Intel did, maybe putting a ID in it as well.

AFAIK, the whole pin missing deal began with an E-Mail message from an employee of SOLTEK to I think Andy at BX Boards. The speculation is that the BP-FID pins would be removed. But even if they are, a solder job to the resistors on top of the cpu can bypass this. Additionally, shorting the resistors with conductive paint can produce the same results.
