How to identify this cpu?

Hi, I have a cpu with these markings P4 3.0 ghz 512/800 sl6wk Malaysia L318a600-1378

I know what some of the things mean like p4 3.0 ghz 512, 800 fsb but what about the sl6wk and L318a600-1378?

The board i am trying to put it on says it will take a Northwood or Prescott socket 478 Intel pentium D\4 and if I remember correctly this was a Prescott cpu that my buddy had built 4,5 yrs ago.

The board is a new ms-7536 v1.x. I cannot get the combo to post or do anything. The chip does work in the old Asus board it came off of. I tried 3 different stix of RAM (1 at a time, 2 at a time, 1 at a time in all the slots, a minimum bare-boot w\ just cpu\ram\hd, w\ cpu\ram only, the same out of the case, in the case, different power supplies, w\ the onboard video, with a separate video card. Nothing.

If the chip i listed above is indeed a a D \ Prescott Im guessing the new mobo is dead? Thx for the education on identifying the chip and those numbers on it.

I was going to say it was a Northwood too.

Yup sspec confirms -

Package Type: 478 pin
Manufacturing Technology: 0.13 micron

Okay, thanks for the ID on the cpu. I have a newbie question in regards to one of the replies.... Don't I need to get the board to post to be able to find out what bios the board has? Because the combo won't do anything.

Thx
