How to ID a MOD

I was recently banned on guru3d, the short of it is that I commented on someones post, and offered my own opinion and reasoning too, not rudely in my opinion. Anyway, someone else took exception and threatened me, I then posted back asking why he thought I was a troll and why he threatened me over something so trivial (besides the fact a physical threat doesn't really work in forums). He continued to flame me, again I asked what his problem is and offered more reasoning on my original post.

Someone then told me to quit it and take it up in PM, I thought it was someone else butting their nose in so I again posted, asking for this other guy to answer me, how was it I was a troll (particularly as I earlier in the thread answered the poll and laid out my answers, very un-troll like) and how I flamed him (when he flamed me).

This then caused me to get a ban for ignoring a MOD's warning, however I was not aware this chap was a MOD, I of course can not get back on at the moment to see if his profile says he is.

Now, I don't intend on repeating the same here, I had been a member at Guru since 2002 and it was my first warning/ban, but I would like to know how you are supposed to ID a MOD, looking at a couple on here (that I think are MODs), there is nothing to say they are a MOD, how do you tell?

It will say under the username. All mods here are identified as moderator in their titles.

They will either be forum category moderators, identified by the forum(s) the moderate or they will be senior moderators, who have authority in all forums.

What about him?

edit:
I assume you were thinking he's still a mod. He hasn't been for about a year.

Yeah I thought he was a MOD.

Why isn't he one anymore?

You need to ask him that one yourself.

Yeah I know, I've seen it now when "Esquared" replied. Only I had been in some other threads this morning and there was some guy I thought was a mod but it didn't say he was, I now know he was not.

Cheers

And welcome to the Anandtech forums. We hope your stay here is more pleasant. 🙂

Thanks, I hope so too. But then Guru3d was not unpleasant, 7 years of membership and no issues prior to this post, I just think it was an over zealous moderator thats all, though I would like to know if the procrastinator was also banned.

I don't mean to sound rude, but if you were a member of Guru3D forums for 7 years and were unable to identify a mod still then I really don't buy your story of how you got banned from there in the first place.

Take it somewhere else and
leave this guy alone.
